Accomplishments
Since its inception, Alpha May Club has had major accomplishments across areas such as ; education, advisory, financial contribution, lectures and research study papers.
Education
We procured Itsekiri undergraduates to go to educational institutions in Itsekiri homeland such as; Ogidigben, Gbokoda and Koko, to prepare Itsekiri Secondary School students for WAEC and JAMB examinations. This program was financed by Alpha May Club for seven consecutive years until it was put to a halt.
We successfully awarded scholarships to deserving Itsekiri undergraduates (male and female) undertaking various courses of study. This program has been on for over 30 years and is still ongoing.
Advisory Relating To Itsekiri Interests
Working single-handedly or in collaboration with other Itsekiri groups such as Committee of Concerned Itsekiri, Lagos (CCI), Itsekiri Leaders’ Forum (ILF) and Itsekiri Leaders of Thought (ILOT), we have ensured the publication of informative write-ups relating to Itsekiri interests in National dailies. Some of these publications include papers written by our Club regarding the creation of Delta State, the importance and need for inclusion of at least one Itsekiri at the National conference of 2014, articles in defence of the position of the Itsekiri during the Itsekiri/Ijaw crisis.
Financial and Material Contribution
Alpha May Club successfully participated in the rehabilitation of displaced Itsekiri from their town and villages during the sad event of the Itsekiri/Ijaw crisis through substantial financial and material contributions.
Lectures, Talks and Papers
Our routine anniversary lectures, talks and papers delivered by our special guests at our anniversary event enlightens the Itsekiri and their friends as well as serve as a means to reach out to the Urhobo, Isoko and Ijaw neighbors of Itsekiri for the maintenance of a peaceful inter-ethnic relationship.
